The Burlington Free Press reported that the Tucker-Johnson Shelter has been destroyed by fire:

Does anyone have any more information?

This is HORRIBLE!
I just signed up for maintenance volunteer work in this section.  I bet I can guess what our first job will be.
Hopefully the VSP will solve this and we'll have the culprits lugging the lumber to rebuild the shelter this spring.

GREAT NEWS!!  Let's hope the USFS/VSP have the correct suspect, the case is successful and he/she has a strong back!  It's only 1.5 miles, but let's have them carry the lumber one board at a time!

No shelter for this year, but the plan is to rebuild it in the Spring of 2012.
